Thanks for joining us on the Bradwell Cruising Club website.

Our situation in Essex-provides excellent access to all that the East Coast has to offer. There are the delights of the Essex and Suffolk rivers, the historic Thames and it's busy estuary and for the more adventurous Holland, Belgium and France are all within easy reach. The area has a proud history of training and encouraging new sailors, from the Walton Backwaters where the Swallows and Amazons messed around in their boats to HMS Ganges where more grown up sailors learnt their skills.

Our unique little club hosts events that we run throughout the year; ranging from shore based festivities to long distance passages. What ever your vessel, route or distance, we’ve got something for everyone.

2026 is to enjoy !

BCC 2026 ;

Why does sailing / boating in all its various forms, from little dinghy’s to grand yachts, from windsurfers to kayaks, from coracle to motor boats, appeal ?

I believe there are a few reasons, firstly with wind powered craft, the ability to use one’s skills to use natures elements and achieve getting from a to b and back !

Secondly, leaving the shore, berth, beach, mooring, etc is the complete sense of freedom. The issues of one’s bank balance, the tax man, the gardening, the shopping, the family pressures can all be forgotten, with plenty of water under the keel, a fair wind, sunny skies, the dream can be enjoyed !

Unfortunately these days the mobile phone can interrupt, that annoying email arrives, that reminder in your electronic calendar pings, that what’s app message sounds, all can spoil your dream, but at least its effect is delayed for a few glorious hours !

Our grandkids fun is dropping a crab line and counting their catch, so the appeal of the water starts young !

So look forward your 2026 season, join in some club events, or drop the hook on some lonely creek, float about and listen to nature in all its splendor !

Enjoy
